The Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine approved the draft law on reducing to zero the import duties on mineral fertilizers.
The government approved the relevant decision at the meeting.
“It refers to the introduction of import customs duties on the mineral fertilizers of the nitro-group, which will allow regulating the issue of protection of agricultural producers from the seasonal price fluctuation as well as will significantly decrease their cost for our agrarians”, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Industry of Ukraine Taras Kutovoi said, EP reports.
The Minister emphasized that such decision is especially important within the context of the discussed decision on the revision of antidumping duties towards Russian mineral fertilizers.
It should be reminded that MEDT decided to consider the possibility of introduction of antidumping measures towards the import of Russian mineral fertilizers.
It should be noted that Dmitri Firtash’s Ostchem, which is one of the largest players on the Ukrainian fertilizers market, pushed for the introduction of antidumping import duties on Russian fertilizers.
In its turn, the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation told that Ostchem blackmails agrarians, trying to raise prices for fertilizers.
The representatives of national agrarian associations sent the petition to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a claim to dissolve the monopoly Ostchem, which appeared on the mineral fertilizers market.
