President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law of Ukraine On Ratification of Agreement between Ukraine and European Police Office for Operational and Strategic Cooperation, UNN reports quoting the press office of the President of Ukraine.
“President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law of Ukraine On Ratification of Agreement between Ukraine and European Police Office for Operational and Strategic Cooperation”, concluded on 14 December 2016 in the Hague (Netherlands) and approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 12 July 2017”, according to the message.
It is noted that the entry into force of the Agreement will deepen Ukraine’s integration in EU rules for justice and home affairs, development of achievements as part of EU’s action plan for liberalization of visa regime between Ukraine and EU.
“The document extends cooperation between Ukraine and European Police Office for supporting Ukraine and EU member countries in prevention and fighting against the organized crime, terrorism and other forms of international crime. It refers to the activation of exchanging latest information as part of criminal proceedings and the creation of opportunities for joint efforts on investigation of crime and searching for the persons, involved in committing crimes”, the press office emphasized.
Except for the information exchange, the cooperation should include the exchange of special expertise, general information, results of strategic analysis, information on the criminal investigation procedures, and information on crime prevention methods, participation in training activities as well as provision of consultations and support in certain criminal proceedings in accordance with Europol’s tasks, set by the Europol’s Council decision.
The document comes into force from the date, on which through diplomatic channels the European Police Office sends the written notification to Ukraine on the receipt and acceptance of Ukraine’s message about the completion of state internal ratification procedures.
