The city council officials systematically claimed money for approval of vegetation clearing permits. The officials of the State Security Service of Ukraine jointly with military prosecutor’s office exposed unit directors of the Ecology Department of the Odessa’s City Council for taking a bribe, amounting to 300 ths hryvnias, RBC-Ukraine reports, SSSU’s press office reports in Facebook. “The law enforcement documented that one unit director of the Department of Ecology and Development of Recreational Zones of the city council systematically claimed money for approval of vegetation clearing permits in Odessa.
“Rastsenki” amounted to 2.5 – 5 thousand hryvnias for each tree and bush”, according to the message. Thus, the task force of the special agency apprehended the officials in the restaurant, while they were obtaining the bribe, amounting to UAH 300 thousand, from the representatives of one of Odessa’s sanatoriums.
The law enforcement officers initiated the criminal proceeding under p.3 of the article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It should be reminded that previously, in Odessa region, the law enforcement officers apprehended the head of one of village councils of Liman district for taking bribe, amounting to 84 ths hryvnias.
