The program of EU aid for Ukraine is almost over. By the end of the year, EU can take the decision on provision of the last tranche, amounting to EUR 600 mln, to Ukraine.
Ukraine submitted to the European Commission the application for obtaining a new macro-financial aid from the European Union, Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugo Mingarelli reported, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Ukraine submitted the application for obtaining a new package of macro-financial aid. The European Commission will assess the country’s need in external funding and, based on the results of assessment, it will be decided whether it is expedient to provide a new macro-financial aid”, he said.
As noted, this question will be considered within the following next months.
“If the positive decision is taken, then the European Commission will submit the respective proposal to the European Parliament and Council of Europe”, he said.
Mingarelli also reminded that during the last three years, EU provided Ukraine a macrofinancial aid, amounting to 3.4 bln euros. In addition, by the end of this year, the decision is taken on provision of the last tranche for 600 mln euros as part of the current program of the macro-financial aid to Ukraine.
