The Western investors refuse to invest funds in Ukrainian economy due to the insufficient protection of property rights in Ukraine.
Anders Aslund, Swiss diplomat, economist, analyst of Atlantic Council and professor of Georgetown University said to Realist'y in the interview, Apostrophe reports.
According to the experts, Ukraine has chance to increase the economic growth to 7% in case of the inflow of foreign investments. However, the weak protection of property rights in the country is the impediment to it.
“Nobody invests in the country, where there are no property rights. It is essential. This is like to throw money in the window, if you know that you cannot dispose of it”, Aslund said.
According to the economist, the failure of the judicial reform in Ukraine became the reason for such situation.
“As the judges are completely corrupt, the judicial reform failed and led to mistrust. Because the corporate raiding continues”, Aslund emphasized.
“If you guaranteed the property rights, then there would be much more investments”, he summarized.
