95% of taxi-drivers do not hold the licenses
The Ukraine’s Land Transport Inspectorate is now drafting an action-plan that aims to legalize the taxi-market in Kyiv, what envisages, in particular, supervision of help desks, taxi parking areas, etc. It should be obligatory concurred by all concerned parties, public organizations and businesses, the press-service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reports.
In experts’ opinion, at present, 95% of cab drivers carry passengers without having taxi driver’s licenses.
«The current situation, passenger transportation, appears to be drastic. In Kyiv there are around 20 thousand taxi drivers, but unfortunately, only 3 thousand out of which have licenses. The two weeks’ statistics shows there were over 130 violations of the Ukraine’s law On Motor Transport with more than 60 administrative infraction reports», - told senior officer of the regional administration in Kyiv city of the Ukraine’s Land Transport Inspectorate Alexander Grynyuk.
In total, since the beginning of the year Ukraine has reported about 1002 violations of registration requirements for businesses being taxi firms and 1054 violations of taxi-driver’s licensing conditions.
