From now on the price for alcoholic beverages will rise
In Ukraine starting from July 1, 2014, the excise duty on alcohol will go up, says Law № 1166- On Prevention of Financial Disaster and Creation of Preconditions for Economic Growth in Ukraine, RBK-Ukraine РБК-Україна reports.
Thus, according to the law, duty on wines with alcohol and duty on fortified wine with vegetable or herb-flavoured extract increases by 25,1% - up to 3,58 UAH/litre. Nevertheless, the excise duty rate for fortified wines in Ukraine was 2,86 UAH/litre before.
Besides, starting from July 1, 2014 the duty on sparkling wines will grow by 0,25% - up to 5,2 UAH/litre. The previous duty rate for sparkling wines in Ukraine was 4,16 UAH/litre.
From now on, the excise duty on cider and perry (without alcohol) will increase from 0,50 up to 0,63 UAH/litre, that is by 26%.
Additionally, the excise duty rates of 25% - up to 70,53 UAH/litre for 100% ethyl alcohol, non-denatured, of alcoholic strength reaching 80% vol. or more, will rise too; including alcoholic distillates and spirits refined, denatured, of any other concentration as well as mixture of fermented beverages and mixture of fermented beverages with non-alcoholic drinks, not listed among other groups, and with alcohol, too. The previous rate for these drinks in Ukraine was 56,42 UAH/litre of 100% alcohol.
