The parliamentarians, at first reading, supported draft law No.1165, on changes to some enactments of Ukraine concerning enhancement of the role the civil society plays in combatting corruption and bribery. 288 MPs out of a quorum of 226 voted for the decision, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
The explanatory note says that the objective of the bill is to enter a provision to the criminal procedure law on the public prosecution institute that will deal with disciplinary offences with signs of corruption in order to get help from civil society institutions in fighting corruption.
It has been proposed to enter required changes to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Offences.
Thus, in the current legislation, there should be the notion and concept of the "public prosecutor", and a separate provision should be added to the current legislation of Ukraine.
In addition, the project offers to decriminalize smuggling of special technical devices for surreptitious intrusion (amendments to article 201 from the Criminal Code) and illegal acquisition, sale or use of special technical devices for surreptitious intrusion (exclusion of article 359 from the Criminal Code), and exclude article 195-5 from the Code of Administrative Offences.
