JSC National Media Group (NMG) increased its stake in Channel One by 4%, now controls 29% of the channel's shares.
The fact that the owned by businessman Roman Abramovich company ORT-KB sold 4% of the "First Channel" became known on August 25 from the message of RBC referring to the Federal Property Agency. According to Interfax, the buyer was the National Media Group (NMG), the second private shareholder of the television channel.
"One of the group companies bought the channel's shares," the representative of the NMG told the agency.
Before that, NMG was the co-owner of the channel, through the company "Rastrkom-2002" it owned 25% of the shares of "First Channel". Another private shareholder is ORT-KB, owned by businessman Roman Abramovich, who owned 24% of the shares prior to this transaction.
In connection with the receipt of Israeli citizenship by Abramovich, the ownership structure of Channel One must be brought into line with the requirements of the media law, that is, thr businessman cannot have more than 20% in the company that is a shareholder of the founder of Channel One.
The state owns a controlling stake in the channel: 38.9% belong to the Federal Property Management Agency, another 9.1% of the shares belong to the ITAR-TASS FSUE, 3% to FSUE TTC Ostankino.
