The Executive Chairman of Google Inc., billionaire Eric Schmidt spent two days in company of US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter in order to better familiarize with the specifics of work of defense department, RIA News reports quoting Defense News.
According to information on the portal, Schmidt was in the company with US Defense Secretary during the visit to Kirtland air force base on Tuesday, after which they made a visit to the National Nuclear Laboratory in Los Alamos on Wednesday.
“He wanted to be together with the minister in order to learn more about the nuclear facility, and I think that it was a possibility for him not only to communicate with the minister, but also speak with some people, engaged in this business, because it would be important for Innovation Advisory Board to have more clear understanding of it”, the high-ranking official of the defense department said to the portal.
Schmidt is the Head of Innovation Advisory Board, created by Carter with the defense department, which will reportedly deal with involvement of civil specialists and developments in DOD’s needs.
Previously the Board announced about the meeting, scheduled for October, with the purpose of development of proposals for US Department of Defense. According to DOD representative, Schmidt allocates time for fuller familiarization with department work in order to coordinate issues for the upcoming meeting.
