Microsoft stated that the hacker group, related to Russia, which was previously suspected of hacking mail servers of US Democratic Party, is responsible for hacker attacks on Windows operating system – BBC reports.
According to company information, it is referred to small hacker attacks with the use of targeted phishing e-mails, behind which is the group Strontium, also known as Fancy Bear and APT 28.
Microsoft also reports that, on November 8, the program, aimed at protection of Windows from similar attacks, will be presented.
In late October, the main rival Microsoft informed about Windows vulnerability. According to Microsoft message, such step on the part of Google posed risk to company clients.
Some cybersecurity experts claim that Strontium works for Russian military intelligence and is responsible for hacking emails of the Democratic Party.
The information about attacks on the servers of US politicians appeared this summer. In July, mass media reported that hackers, related to Russian authorities, managed to hack into the computer program, which was used by the election campaign office of US presidential candidate Hilary Clinton.
In September, UK intelligence services reported that Russian hackers attempted to hack into sites of the government and television companies of the United Kingdom.
The Russian authorities deny any involvement in hacker attacks.
