VoteCastr will publish data on the election turnout in key states, Voice of America reports.
For dozens of years, large US mass media refused to report on the exit poll data live on the elections day, fearing that it will influence the decision of voters or lower the turnout.
However, this year VoteCastr start-up company joined efforts with mass media, attempting to reverse this trend. Not everybody treated it positively.
Starting from 8 a.m. as per eastern standard time, VoteCAstr will start publishing forecasts on the results in key states, which are likely to decide the final outcome of voting.
The company will receive data from hundreds of employees, who will track turnout in the key electoral districts of Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Thus, if in Iowa’s rural area, tending towards Trump, the turnout will turn out to be higher than expected, then it can evidence about increasing chances for the victory of the Republican candidate.
It is at variance with the existing tradition, according to which mass media voluntarily refuse from the publication of preliminary data on states, before the electoral districts are not closed.
