US President-Elect subjected Beijing to criticism for devaluation of yuan and demonstration of military force in the South China Sea, DW reports.
On Sunday, December 4, US President-Elect Donald Trump made anti-China statement in his Twitter account. Trump accused Beijing of currency manipulations and demonstration of its military force in the South China sea.
“Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into their country (the U.S. doesn’t tax them) or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea? I don’t think so …”, Trump wrote.
He did not specify what caused him to make these statements. Previously Beijing expressed the official protest because of the phone conversation between Trump and Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen. As reported, thus Trump violated restrictions on direct diplomatic contacts. Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi expressed hope that this conversation will not cause any damage to the relationships of two countries and placed responsibility on Taiwan administration.
Taiwan announced about its separation from China during the civil war in 1949. In 1979, Washington officially recognized the only government in Beijing. Since then, the USA cooperate with Taiwan in many spheres, but refuse from diplomatic relationships.
