Hugues Mingarelli encouraged introducing the long-term sanctions against RF.
Russia is the main threat of the Black Sea Region, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli said during the press conference, Correspondent.net reports quoting RBC-Ukraine.
“Today, Russia is the strategic challenge and the main threat in the Black Sea region”, the diplomat said.
Mingarelli encouraged imposing the long-term sanctions against Russia, while holding open the opportunity for the dialogue with it on the diplomatic level.
“One ought to introduce long-term sanctions to this country, in order to decrease its military presence, however, one must continue the dialogue with Russia through our diplomatic channels”, the ambassador noted.
He explained that EU requires the complete fulfilment of Minsk agreements, and only after that, the dialogue on antiterrorist issues will be carried on.
As Correspondent.net reports, previously US Defense Secretary James Mattis called Russia as the biggest threat for the USA. According to his opinion, US citizens should interact with RF the same way as during the times of the Cold War.
