The Pentagon’s draft budget provides for increasing funds for deterring Russia in Europe, Correspondent.net reports.
The White House introduced into a Congress the draft budget of the Department of Defense, which stipulates the significant increase of funds for the “Initiative on Ensuring Europe’s Security”.
In 2018 FY, which started on October 1, 2017, it is planned to allocate USD 4.8 billion for the program, while during the current financial year, USD 3.4 billion will be allocated.
It should be reminded that the U.S. launched the “Initiative on Ensuring Europe’s Security” in 2014 in response to Russia’s aggressive actions. It provides “guarantees for European allies”.
It was previously reported that Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations Curtis Scarapotti said that NATO needs more militaries in Europe to deter “Russian aggression”.
