Facebook plans to hire other 1,000 people for checking adverts due to the information that Russia purchased political adverts in social media during U.S. elections, according to Facebook’s statement, Ukrainian Truth reports.
It is noted that new employees will be hired the next year.
The company also invests more funds in software for automatic deletion of fake adverts.
“The view of adverts means that not only its content, but also its context, in which it was purchased, and target audience will be assessed; that is why we change the system for checking adverts to pay more attention to these signals”, the company said.
Previously, Facebook claimed that during two years, the accounts, which operated from Russia, purchased and distributed political adverts in social media. The accounts also operated during U.S. presidential elections.
As was said, the vast majority of these adverts did not touch concretely on the theme of elections; however, the provocative messages, touching on LGBT, immigration, gun rights themes etc. were distribute d through these accounts.
