The United States allowed the possibility of returning to UNESCO.
The U.S. does not exclude the possibility of returning to UNESCO in case, if the organization “returns to its purpose, settled when it was created”, and will be reformed, Spokesperson for the United States Department of State Heather Nauert stated, Correspondent.net reports quoting RIA News.
“If UNESCO wants that we return, if it wants to be reformed and return to the starting point in assistance to education, culture etc, probably we can consider such possibility”, she said.
It should be reminded that on October 12, the U.S. announced its decision to withdraw from UNESCO. The country will remain the member of UNESCO until 31 December 2018, and since 2019, it will have a status of supervisor in this international organization.
