During the tender on Tuesday, Microsoft reached the level of capitalization, amounting to USD 700 bln, for a shirt time, thus becoming the third U.S. company, which managed to reach this threshold, Finance.ua reports quoting Interfax.
At the beginning of the session, the shares increased in price by 1.3%, reaching the historic intraday high – 90.79 USD. Taking into account the recent data of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) about the number of shares in circulation (7.715 USD as of October 20), it corresponds to the amount of USD 700.41 bln.
Currently, there are only two public companies in the world, which cost more: Apple – about 912 bln dollars and Alphabet (the parent company of Google) – about 793 bln dollars.
For Microsoft, the previous peak was at the height of the age of dotcoms – USD 613 bln in 1999. In current prices, Microsoft would cost 912 bln.
It should be reminded that in October 2017, the market capitalization of Microsoft exceeded the level of USD 600 billion for the first time.
