In Europe they believe that the Ukrainian have the right to hold rallies
The decision of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, which banned rallies in downtown Kyiv, is excessive and inconsistent with the commitments of Ukraine to the OSCE, Ukrinform writes.
This opinion was expressed to journalists by the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Janez Lenarchych during the 20th OSCE ministerial meeting in Kiev.
"We have heard of the decision, we have no official information or confirmation of this, but if the message is accurate, that is - that the court prohibited the rallies implicitly - such unconditional prohibition is excessive, disproportionate and inconsistent with the obligations of Ukraine to OSCE" - said Lenarchych.
As reported, the Kyiv District Administrative Court banned the rally on Independence Square, European Square, the streets of Presidential Administration, Hrushevskyi, Bogomoltsa from December 1, 2013 to January 7, 2014
