Amobi Capital and Helios Royal Energy (U.S.) are going to build solar power parks, capable of producing 500 MWt of solar energy in Ukraine within the next 3 years and other 1GWt within the next 10 years, finance.ua reports quoting Ukrinform.
The construction of the first solar park with capacity, totaling 35MWt, will start in Boguslav, Kyiv region in 2018. Nik Energy, the partner of Amobi Capital, already built the first 4 MWt.
According to Amobi Capital data, Helios Royal Energy, the participants of which are also the investors from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and China, implements the project.
“We are happy to form our first “solar portfolio” in Ukraine. The local companies can benefit from the pure solar energy and mitigate the growth of costs on electrical energy”, the company’s CEO Ugo Amobi commented.
In 2017, Ukraine installed 257 MWt facilities on production of electrical energy from renewable sources, out of which 27 MWt – wind power, 14 MWt – biogas units and small hydroelectric stations with 5 MWt capacity, and other facilities – solar power stations.
The current renewable energy rate is 0.1502 euros ($0.1863)/kWt-hour. The rate, as per which the household owners and small business can sell the excess electrical energy to the network, is 0.18 euros for kWt-hour.
It will create the hundreds of jobs and will position Ukraine as one of the countries, where the production of renewable energy sources in mass scale becomes increasingly prospective.
