Last year, the chief executive directors of the 350 largest U.S companies earned on the average 312 times more than their employees, according to the study of the Economic Policy Institute, a non-profit organization in Washington, finance.ua reports.
At the same time, it is noted that the gap is only widening, as the salaries of top managers are actively growing year after year, while the wages of ordinary Americans are practically not raised.
So, in 2017, the CEOs of the largest U.S. companies received the increase in wages by 17.6% on the average, to $18.9 million. The salaries of ordinary employees increased by only 0.3%.
Moreover, 14% of Americans did not receive any increases for the last 9 years, since the minimum wage in the USA did not change all this time and is at the level of $ 7.25 per hour (the minimum federal level, in some states the indicator may be higher).
According to the economists from Mercer, in 2018, the average salaries across the country will increase by 2.8%.
