The foreign trade surplus of Ukraine for January-March of 2014 equalled USD 1, 306,600 as compared to USD 1, 196,700 for the similar period in 2013, the RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Украина) reports citing the Ukraine’s State Statistics Service.
In more detail, trade deficit covering merchandise and services imported from the CIS countries reached USD 357,4 million, while trade in goods and services with other world’s countries reported trade surplus instead, which amount totalled USD 1, 664, 000., including the EU countries – USD 136,1 million.
Export of goods and services went down by 7,4% totalling USD 16, 849, 100 million. Breaking down, exports to the CIS countries fell by 23,4% and made up USD 4, 980, 900. Exports to the EU countries grew by 10,8% - up to USD 5, 797, 300.
Imports to Ukraine in the I-st quarter of 2014, on a year-on-year basis, fell by 19,8% and made up USD 15, 542, 500. Besides, imports from the CIS countries lowered by 22% - up to USD 5, 338,300, while imports from the ЕU dropped by 11,7% - up to USD 5, 661, 200.
