On Tuesday, June 28, Prime-Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman conducted meeting with Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Herd Muller, during which the parties discussed cooperation in economic sphere.

Volodymyr Hroisman noted that there are 4.5 ths companies with German capital in Ukraine. Also, currently the projects of German technical aid, amounting to 600 mln euros, are being implemented in Ukraine. “This is the necessary basis for development and enhancement of cooperation”, he noted

The Prime-Minister emphasized that “Ukrainian economy demonstrates low, but still growth.” Ukraine has all necessary legislation for fighting with corruption, which is very important for German business. “We have everything, necessary for implementation of reforms in Ukraine”, he added.

The parties have agreed to activate realization of projects of German business in Ukraine. For this purpose, in autumn 2016 the intergovernmental consultations on sustainable growth of Ukraine will be conducted in Kyiv.

Volodymyr Hroisman also noted that the priority should be the cooperation of two countries at the local level. “We implemented decentralization, that’s why the programs for interaction at local level are exclusively important today”, - he emphasized.

At the beginning of 2017 the conference of partner cities will be conducted in Kyiv with participation of local authorities of partner cities of Ukraine, Germany and Poland.

The Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Herd Muller also discussed the issues of realization of energy efficiency projects in Ukraine, in particular the creation and beginning of operation of the Energy Efficiency Fund. “Our purpose is to increase gas extraction in Ukraine and reduce gas consumption by means of energy saving”, Volodymyr Hroisman noted.

The parties focused special attention on the issue of attraction of German support of reforming the Customs Service of Ukraine. The Prime Minister noted that the full technical modernization is envisaged within the reform of customs. “We are counting on technical and expert aid of German partners”, Volodymyr Hroisman noted.

Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Herd Muller also noted that he fully supports the intentions of government on privatization. “You may count on help and support of Germany”, - he emphasized.

Herd Muller noted that “it is important to launch the process so that FRG’s economy invests in Ukraine’s economy”.

“The most European project in economic sphere for next 10 years should become the cooperation of FRG and EU with Ukraine. We fully agree and undersign your governmental program, - Herd Muller emphasized. – We are sure in such approach, as our Government sends correct signals to Europe”.

The German part also expressed willingness to share experience and provide practical assistance in improvement of the system of vocational technical training in Ukraine. The parties have agreed to prepare the separate program, attracting educational institutions, business associations and chambers of commerce and industry of two countries.

The parties discussed separately the issues of displaced persons in Ukraine. Herd Muller noted that Germany understands the complexity of situation, related to the large number of refugees and displaced persons in Ukraine. “We understand the scale of this problem, that’s why we should encourage world community to assist refugees”, he stated. In his turn, Volodymyr Hroisman noted that Government makes every effort in order 1,700,000 people, who had to leave Donbass, obtain necessary aid and support on the part of Government.
