The State Fiscal Service sent the special unit to Odessa customs, which fulfilled the monthly plan of revenues for 5 days, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman told at the 13th Annual Investment Conference in Kyiv, Economic Truth reports.
“In 2017, we ensured the respective financial mechanism for modernization of the Ukrainian customs. We want it to be transparent and automated. We want it to be as fast as possible. What impediments are there? In order to implement it, we need to have parliament’s support”, he noted.
According to Groisman, the government “will fight so that the Ukrainian legislation is amended for the business to obtain qualitative services”.
“Yesterday, the SFS’s acting director called me when I was in Turkey and told me about the performance of Odessa customs. We formed a separate unit, consisting of 17 persons, which went to Odessa customs, to properly organize the work there”, the Prime Minister added.
According to him, for 5 days of operation, the Odessa customs fulfilled the plan of revenues for one month.
“Let’s imagine how large corruption schemes were on Odessa customs. The Odessa customs is 50% of good distribution in Ukraine”, Groisman said.
“We will stop it, we will overcome corruption on all customs of our country, we will ensure reforming of the customs. We liquidate ineffective customs. And do two things: on the one hand, we will be able to replenish our budget, on the other – we will create conditions for qualitative competition, liquidating the so called shadow import”, he added.
