Russian Businessperson Oleg Deripaska sued over the US agency Associated Press (AP) for his defamation, RNS reports quoting Politico.
Oleg Derispaska’s lawyers brought an action before the Federal Court in Washington, claiming that on March 22, 2017, AP published the article, which brings false accusations against the businessperson, stating that he allegedly signed the agreement for payment of $10 mln to the former Donald Trump election campaign manager Paul Manafort “for furthering the interests of Putin’s government”.
Previously, AP published the article that the former US President Donald Trump election campaign manager Paul Manafort secretly worked for the Russian businessperson Oleg Deripaska and “furthered the interests of the President of Russia”. In 2006, Manafort allegedly signed the contract with Oleg Deripaska with the annual payment, amounting to $10 mln, and these relationships continued at least until 2009, AP reported.
