BlackBerry Limited and Jaguar Land Rover announced the conclusion of a multi-year agreement on cooperation in development of advanced solutions for connected cars.
According to the terms of the agreement, Jaguar Land Rover will use Blackberry software in its cars of the next generation. In particular, it refers to safety features, Finance.ua reports quoting reuters.com.
Blackberry, in its turn, will form the team from engineers, who will deal with development in the interests of Jaguar Land Rover. The created solutions will be applied in the new information and entertainment center, which the cars of British brand will be equipped with in future.
It should be noted that Blackberry had been developing car products for long. Previously it was reported that Aston Martin and Range Rover test the specialized solution of BlackBerry, which will help ensuring safety of smart cars with Internet connection.
Such system can scan connected cars in order to find vulnerabilities in onboard software and weak points in safety. In case of finding serious problems, the driver will be proposed to refuse from driving until they are eliminated.
