In Ukraine, 20% of farmers participate in the government support programs, as evidenced by the results of the survey, conducted by UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), UNN reports.
“The results of the survey of agricultural producers in Ukraine evidence about the low level of their participation in the government support program. According to the survey results, only 20.3% of small and medium agricultural enterprises, including farmers, submitted application for government support programs, which operated during 2000-2017”, FAO noted.
More than quarter (25.9%) of representatives of small and medium agricultural enterprises, including farmers, were not aware of existence of government support programs. In the meantime, 59% respondents were fully aware of this question.
“Only 15.1% of respondents were well aware of government support programs and showed interest in some of them”, FAO emphasized.
What concerns agricultural households, they were virtually not informed about existence of agricultural subsidies. 61.2% were not aware about anything, the sociologist noted.
It should be reminded that if in the last year, the amount of government support depended on the amount of taxes, paid to the budget, then this year the agricultural companies and farmers, who breed cattle, can apply for agricultural subsidies.
