Resolution №45
With the view of liberalization of some kind of transactions through correspondent accounts in hryvnia, on February 6, 2014 the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine passed resolution №45 On Alterations to Legislative Act of the NBU, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on March 3,2014 under № 343/25120 (hereinafter - Resolution № 45).
Resolution №45 endorsed the updates to the provision that specifies opening and making transactions through the correspondent accounts in foreign currency of resident and non-resident banks, and the resident banks’ accounts in hryvnia as well, as stated in Resolution №118 dd. March 26, 1998 made by the NBU’s Board, and registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on April 10, 1998 under №231/2671.
So, the non-resident banks, the national currency of the country they are registered in is attributed by the NBU to the 2nd or 3rd group of the Classifier of Bullion & Currencies [1] , are permitted to carry out transactions relating to purchase of any foreign currency for hryvnia, yet within a relevant group of the Classifier (not limiting such purchase to only national currency of a non-resident bank).
Resolution № 45 takes effect since the date it is officially published.
