After US weakened sanctions against Russia, Europe also may weaken pressure, the experts consider – Korrespondent.net reports.
The analysts anticipated that next year, USA may weaken sanctions against Russia, 55% of experts, surveyed by Bloomberg, said. Shortly thereafter, EU restrictions will be weakened, the edition reports.
10% less experts anticipated the weakening of sanctions in this October.
According to analysts’ data, in case of cancellation of sanctions, the growth of Russia’s GDP will increase by 0.2% in 2017 and by 0.5% in 2018.
“It is still unknown if the USA and EU will weaken sanctions,; however, there is an order on weakening of restrictions or less coercion, which can decrease financial expenses”, Head of Emerging Markets Department of 4Cast-RGE Rachel Ziemba reports.
40% of economists, surveyed by Bloomberg, consider that the European Union will follow the lead on weakening of sanctions, if Washington takes such decision. They are also confident that it will happen next year.
“If the USA weakens sanctions, it will be impossible to achieve consensus among EU members on retaining restrictions, as they are today”, IHS Markit’s Economist Charles Movit.
It should be reminded that on December 20, the USA extended sanctions against Russia due to the situation in Ukraine, and on December 19, the European Union prolonged sanctions against Russia.
