US President-Elect Donald Trump decided to appoint the economist Peter Navarro, known for criticizing China, as the Head of a new national trade office, BBC reports.
Navarro will head the trade office, created within the White House, as well as will be responsible for trade and industrial policy.
During Trump’s pre-election campaign, the scientist was one of his advisors. Then, the presidential candidate criticized trade agreements with China and Mexico.
Navarro was the author of such books as “The Coming China Wars” and “Death by China”.
Trump’s Executive Office claims that Navarro’s appointment “demonstrates the intention of the President-Elect to make US production great again”.
Trump was already able to cause discontent of the official Beijing, when he answered the call of Taiwan’s president (China and many countries under its influence, including USA, consider Taiwan not as a separate country, but as its own province).
