The government of Russia intends to extend the term of export loan use for financing the preconstruction of Ruppur NPS in Bangladesh until 2017. The relevant order is posted on the official website, RNS reports.
The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia were assigned to sign the protocol on behalf of the Russian government.
Bangladesh should have used the loan until 2016; however, now this term was extended until 2017.
$500 mln loan was disbursed in 2013. In July 2016, the Russian government allocated Bangladesh one more export loan, amounting to USD 11.38 bln, for the construction of Ruppur NPS.
Ruppur NPS will be constructed on the eastern bank of the Ganges at the distance of 160 km northwestward from Dacca. The launch of the first power unit with WWER-type reactors, having the capacity of 120 megawatt, was scheduled for 2022, the second reactor will be launched in 2023, the second power unit was launched in 2023; each power unit should operate for 60 years.
