In spite of previous statements, Turkey imposed duties on the goods from RF, Correspondent.net reports.
Turkey imposes import duties on Russian products. As it is reported on Monday, March 27, the duty on the corn and buckwheat will be 130%, rice – 45%, sunflower oil – 36%, sunflower cake – 13.5%, legumes – 9.7%.
The duties are imposed from March 15, 2017. Meanwhile, on March 17, the Turkish relevant agencies did not confirm the imposition of duties on Russian buckwheat supplies.
The RF Ministry of Agriculture stated that the duties create certain difficulties, due to which it is planned to develop new “promising sales market”. It is planned to increase supplies in the Asian-Pacific Region as well as Latin America and Africa. It is reported that during the last three years, Turkey reduced the procurement of Russian goods, which are now levied with duty.
The experts suppose that Turkey imposed new duties in order to win the tomato supplies to Russia. The Russian experts consider that Turkey will also suffer losses from the imposition of duties; that is why, the best option is the agreement on the duty-free import of agricultural products from RF.
