The United States and Georgia reviewed the fulfillment of programs of military aid to Caucasian country for strengthening the fighting capacity of the Georgian army. It was discussed during the meeting of defense ministers of two countries in Washington on Monday, Ukrinform’s correspondent reports.
“The parties reviewed current U.S. aid in security for the Armed Forces of Georgia, including the continuing cooperation for strengthening the fighting capacity and institutional capacity under the Program of Training the Fighting Capacity of Georgia”, they noted after the meeting in Pentagon.
In the meantime, it is noted that James Mattis positively assessed the results of reforms in defense sector of Georgia and strengthening the capacities of armed forces of the country through allocation of 2.2% of GDP for these purposes.
“Defense Secretary Mattis also confirmed the obligation of the United States to continue cooperation with Georgia in defense, including through bilateral and multilateral trainings”, U.S. Department of Defense reported.
