The Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology jointly with U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research and Texas University A&M will create a laboratory for forecasting extreme weather conditions, Ukrinform reports,
As they stated in the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, the information agency Xinhua reports.
“The laboratory will develop a modern system for modelling the Earth and its weather conditions, which will provide reliable information both on the regional and global level”, the message says.
It is noted that thanks to the development of modelling technologies and supercomputers, the Chinese and U.S. scientists will be able to forecast extreme weather changes more precisely, in particular, tropical cyclones, winter storms and floods.
It is planned that the development of the model will last 5 years.
As previously reported, in November 2017, China launched a new meteorological satellite, which will track the volumes of carbon emissions.
