On June 8, The Summit computer, worth USD 200 million, was presented in U.S., Liga.net reports.
The supercomputer was created by IBM company by order of Oak Ridge National Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy.
According to the data of developers, The Summit capacity is 200 petaflops. It is expected that it can produce quadrillion operations with floating point.
It is approximately twice as much capacity as the Chinese supercomputer Sunway Taihulight, which was considered as the most powerful supercomputer from June 2016.
As Laboratory Director Thomas Zacharia noted, a new supercomputer already fulfilled the task for one hour, which the regular desktop computer would do for 30 years.
