U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose new duties at 10% for Chinese goods, totaling $200 bln, Reuters reports quoting the statement of U.S. President.
Trump stated that he asked U.S. trade representative to determine the list of Chinese goods, in respect to which the new duties may be imposed. According to U.S. President, this step will be the response to China’s decision to increase duties on U.S. goods by $50 bln.
“After the legislative process is completed, these duties will come into force, if China denies changing its actions, as well as if it insists on promoting new duties, about which he recently announced”, Trump stated.
If China raises its duties again in response to U.S. last step, “we will respond to this action by introducing additional duties for the goods by other $200 bln”, U.S. president promised.
It should be reminded that on June 15, U.S. imposed duties at 25% for Chinese domestic appliances.
On June 16, China reciprocated to imposition of U.S. duties.
