Mikhail Titarchuk informed that Ukrainian authors obtain hundred times less royalties than their foreign colleagues, UBR reports quoting UNN.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mikhail Titarchuk claimed that Ukrainian authors in 2016 earned 2.7 billion euros, while their U.S. colleagues obtained 652 times more for the same period. The royalties of European authors is also 310 times more than the royalties of national authors.
In Ukraine, the organization of collective management, which is the managers of copyright objects, collected just 2.7 million euros in 2016. According to the minister, such work of the body evidences the inefficiency and non-transparency.
The protection of the copyright is the mechanism for stimulating the economic development and improving the investment climate of the country. That is why he speaks about the necessity of payment of the real cost of goods and services. The Deputy Minister also considers that the authors should also obtain decent income.
In 2016, the comprehensive program of reformation of intellectual property sphere was developed and implemented for this purpose. Titarchuk considers that now, we need just correctly implement all mechanisms. Only after that, the qualitative changes will appear in this area.
