No more paper medical records in Ukraine
Ministry of Health of Ukraine abandons paper medical records, explained Deputy Health Minister Roman Bohachov, as MoH of Ukraine introduces Ukrainian electronic registry of patients (ERP), the press service of the Ministry informs.
This was made possible by implementing the Strategy Concept of informatization of healthcare of Ukraine in 2014-2018, supported by the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization of Ukraine in April. The measures for implementation of this Concept also include creating an electronic registry.
Recently, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Bohatyriova approved terms of reference for creating a centralized electronic registry of patients and comprehensive information security system in it.
Personal patient data will be stored on the server hardware of the Health Ministry, which will provide centralized control over their safety. This decision was made based on the analysis of ERP in "test" mode in the pilot regions - Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk oblasts and City of Kyiv.
«Implementation of an electronic registry of patients will automatically upgrade the service of medical statistics, which will be conducted through the account values and actual monitoring of the quality of medical services to the population. And this is one of the conditions for a comfortable transition to health insurance», the Deputy Minister said.
Implementation of an electronic registry of patients is only one of the stages of healthcare informatization that is carried out through attracting investments. The main investor in this direction is the World Bank, which supports the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in modern transformations not only financially, but also in spirit.
