The messenger Skype, which belongs to Microsoft, tests the possibility of sending SMS in the desktop version of the application.
The update is likely to be included in the separate version, called Skype Insider, finance.ua reports.
The sources of the edition told that SMS Connect function will operate in desktop versions of the messenger for Windows and Mac as well as on the smartphones with Android operating system.
SMS Connect is already available for testing in the messenger’s preliminary version of Skype Preview for Android. In official Twitter Skype Insider, the company representatives confirmed the launch of the function of sending and receiving SMS, refusing to specify details. In particular, it is unknown how much it will cost to use the service.
Now, Skype users can make calls, including international, through cellular networks. Depending on the country, the monthly subscription for this service costs between $3-8.
