U.S. will allocate funds for countering Russia in Europe. Washington will send money for containment of Russia in Europe.
Washington is going to allocate about USD 5 bln for implementation of initiatives on containment of Russia’s hybrid aggression in European countries. Out of them, USD 100 mln will be directed for increasing the defense potential of Baltic countries, according to the report of U.S. Senate, Correspondent.net reports.
It is noted that U.S. Congress committees on armed forces approved the annual act on the National Defense, which determines Pentagon’s policy and budget for the next financial year, which officially started in U.S. on October 1.
Countering Russia’s aggression is a separate item in the document: the Congressmen did not ignore Russian intervention in Georgia in 2008 and in Ukraine in 2014 as well as threats, posed to NATO allies.
The act emphasizes the expansion of RF’s military activity in the Arctic region and the Mediterranean, development of its nuclear doctrine as well as Moscow’s violation of Treatyon the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF treaty) and multilateral international Treaty on Open Skies.
U.S. and its European allies are concerned due to the flow of disinformation, propaganda an cyberattacks from RF as well as Kremlin’s hybrid military operations. U.S. multi-channel distributors, satellite and cable TV operators were proposed to “keep from broadcasting the content, which belongs, is controlled or financed by RF government”.
In view of all of this, Washington is going to allocate EUR 5 bln for containment of Russian in Europe.
