CU countries supported accession of new states to the union
Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan supported Armenia and Kyrgyzstan's intention to join the Customs Union, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at a press-conference following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Russian service of BBC reports.
«We agreed to establish a working group charged with the task to prepare the corresponding «road map» as soon as possible», Putin said.
In turn, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia «do not close the door before anybody» willing to join the Customs Union.
Until recently Armenia was supposed to sign an association agreement with the EU, but after meeting with Mr Putin on September 3rd the President of Armenia opted in favor of the Customs Union instead.
