On Tuesday, December 12, U.S. President Donald Trump signed U.S. defense budget for 2018 FY, amounting to almost USD 700 bln, the press office of the White House informs, Correspondent.net reports.
The document provides the allocation of 4.6 bln dollars to European NATO allies as part of countering Russia’s threat.
It also provides the special item, such as the allocation of 350 mln dollars of the military aid to Ukraine.
In addition, the document contains the items “on assessment of potential threats from Russia, including its malicious influence – disinformation, propaganda, cyberattacks, intervention in elections, hybrid war, which pose threat not only to the interests of U.S. homeland security, but also allies and partners in Europe”.
The budget provides the allocation of 58 mln dollars for development of a new intermediate-range missile “in response to Russia’s violation of the Treaty on the Elimination of the Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles”.
As Correspondent.net reported, on September 19, U.S. Senate supported the increase of the military budget by 75 bln dollars to the record amount of 700 bln dollars.
Previously, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that U.S. weapon will help Ukraine to release Donbass.
