Russia was named as a threat for European countries. U.S. analysts specified the risk zone in Europe.
The zone of possible Russia’s intervention include EU peripheral countries – Baltics, Balkans, Central and Southern European countries, U.S. analytical company Stratfor promulgated the respective forecast, Correspondent.net reports.
As the analysts note, Russia attempts to prevent NATO and EU expansion as well as sow discord among the associations in regard to sanctions and defense capability.
The forecast emphasizes that EU peripheral countries have little ground to fear the ordinary RF’s military aggression. The Russian intervention into the region may not be excluded, though it is unlikely to happen, because these countries are NATO members or are located far from Russia, or both.
It is noted that the intervention is not the only tool in RF arsenal. The hybrid war, in particular, political manipulations, punitive energy and economic measures, cyberattacks as well as diversionary and disinformation campaigns pose the specific threat for EU peripheral countries.
