Montenegro, Albania, Norway and Ukraine joined the European Union’s decision on prolongation of anti-Russian sanctions, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said, RIA News reports.
It is reported that these countries “will ensure the compliance of their national policy with EU Council’s decision”. Mogherini added that the European Union welcomes their position.
On June 28, the EU Council officially prolonged the economic sanctions against Russia for half year. President of the European Council Donald Tusk gave reasons for such decision with “Russia’s insufficient fulfilment of Minsk agreements”.
Moscow expressed regrets about this decision, emphasizing that the sanctions are not capable of solving any task, which the European Union sets against Russia. In late June, Vladimir Putin signed the order on prolongation of responsive measures against Western sanctions until late 2018.
